Celebrate Long Branch Day with us outside the Main Library—enjoy local vendors, bouncy houses for kids, DJ music, and family fun for all! Autumn Art for Adults offers five nature-inspired art sessions. Participants will create observational pencil drawings of birds and bees, detailed colored pencil drawings of butterflies, and oil pastel still life studies of sunflowers. They will also paint autumn leaves with watercolors and use colored pencils to depict life timelines, drawing inspiration from renowned artists like Van Gogh, O'Keeffe, and Hundertwasser.

Tuesday, October 15th from 10am to 5pm - St James' Episcopal Church

 

Join us for an upcoming Energy Assistance Day where representatives from New Jersey Natural Gas and state-designated agencies will guide you through the eligibility and application process for energy assistance. Income guidelines are higher than you might expect. A family of four making over $140,000 may qualify. Income-eligible households may also qualify for home energy-improvement programs to help manage energy bills.

Wednesday, October 16th at 6pm - Elberon Branch Library

 

Do you use a bicycle for transportation or ride for fun? Many people ride bikes in an unsafe manner. We want you to be safe. Adults and teens are invited to join us at the Elberon Branch on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 6:00 p.m. for a program on bicycle safety presented by an officer from the Long Branch Police Department and Mike Johnson from EZ Ride.

To participate in Unity Day, wear the color orange to show support for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Orange is associated with safety and visibility, and its vibrancy can make a strong statement. The event also aims to send a visual message that people's actions matter every day, not just on Unity Day. Orange beads will be available at the library so everyone can participate!

Wednesday, October 23rd at 6:30pm - Elberon Branch Library

Learn how to decoratively mend a repair with simple embroidery stitches and felt patches to add a visible embellishment. Bring your creative energy to add flair to your repair!   All supplies will be provided and workshop participants will be able to complete their project at home. Please bring an article of clothing or any fabric item that needs a small repair.  All levels are welcome; no sewing experience is necessary. Space is limited to the first 15 who RSVP so reserve your space early!  For adults only, please.

Thursday, October 24th at 2pm - Elberon Branch Library

Join us for a discussion of the classic gothic horror book Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice.  A vampire named Louis de Pointe du Lac tells his 200-year-long life story to a reporter referred to simply as "the boy". This bestseller spawned twelve sequels, several movies and a TV series, proving the enduring popularity of vampires in pop culture. Our moderator will be Tonya Garcia, our Library Director, a confirmed fan of gothic fiction!
