October Newsletter

October is here! There’s nothing quite like the crunch of fallen leaves underfoot, a warm drink in hand, and a good library book to get lost in on a crisp autumn day. As the air turns cooler and the days grow shorter, the Library is the perfect place to find stories that keep you inspired, entertained, and cozy all season long. :fallen_leaf::open_book::maple_leaf:

October is also Italian American Heritage Month, a time to explore the rich stories, culture, and history of Italian Americans and their lasting impact on our country. Click here to check out a reading list compiled by our Library Assistant, Tori!

Please note that the Library will be closed on October 13th in observance of Columbus Day.

Digital Services Spotlight - Kanopy, Ancestry & Mango

With your library card, you can access a number of free digital services, including genealogy resources, language learning and movies. This month, we are highlighting resources that help celebrate National Family History Month, Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month and Hispanic Heritage Month.

Saturday, November 1st at 1:30pm -- Teen Movie Series: Coco

In this vibrant Pixar adventure, a young boy journeys to the Land of the Dead to uncover his family's long-lost secrets and discover the true power of music and memory. Rated PG.

Local art students Emma and Sammy will walk you through the steps of envisioning and drawing an animation-type character. In Session II, attendees will dive deeper into their character, adding personality traits and the world their character inhabits. Great for aspiring artists, cartoonists, and writers! This is an advanced ESL class focusing on conversations and simple readings in English. Students will practice their skills, connect with other community members, and further explore their identity as Long Branch/Monmouth County residents. Register here!

This free class is perfect for beginners with little to no English experience and will focus on practical language skills to help you confidently navigate life in Long Branch and the U.S. Registration is limited to 12 students so please register ahead.
