Join the NJ Social Justice Remembrance Coalition’s commemoration of the racially motivated murder (lynching) of Samuel ‘Mingo Jack’ Johnson (
njremembrance.org). Reverend Kerwin Webb, Associate Pastor of Second Baptist Church of Asbury Park, and president of the Red Bank Area NAACP, will lead a discussion fostering meaningful dialogue about race and justice.
"The New Jersey Social Justice Remembrance Coalition (NJSJRC) invites community organizations to partner with us in remembering and honoring Samuel "Mingo Jack" Johnson of Eatontown, New Jersey's only documented victim of racial terror lynching. NJSJRC offers select community partners the opportunity to display a traveling exhibit centered on a memorial jar of soil collected at the site of Mr. Johnson's 1886
murder. The display asks viewers to join in bearing witness to this personal and community tragedy, and to reflect on actions we can take today to end the legacies of racial violence and inequality."
