This is a generative workshop designed for those who want to write personal essays or memoirs about their experiences living between two or more cultures--whether you are an immigrant, a first or second generation American or a descendant of the Great Migration of African Americans from the south to the north.

We’ll complete a series of in-class writing exercises designed to help us begin to document and translate our experiences to the wider public.

What are the challenges and the advantages of living between cultures or creating a new one? For our first writing exercise, please bring an object or photograph that you feel reflects a part of your heritage or identity.
