Our latest art exhibition—Shell Cats—features the inventive blending of found objects with precise sculpting and painting to create whimsical scenes. Now, we’re offering a chance to meet the artist behind the creations.
On Tuesday, January 24, Lauren Li will be at the Main Library to discuss the inspiration behind her pieces.
Lauren is a student at JP Stevens High School and loves to visit local beaches. Using shells collected from the sands, Lauren searches for the life in them, using a mixture of Apoxie Sculpt and acrylic paint to turn them into a variety of cats in curious positions, ranging from being covered in food to surrounded by flowers.
Come and meet Lauren on Tuesday, January 24 at 7:00pm and learn how she works through her artist process. Light refreshments will be served.
If you can’t make it to the reception but still want to see the exhibit, it will continue to be displayed in the Main Library and North Edison Branch through the end of January.
