May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize the importance of mental health and well-being. In recent years, the conversation around mental health has become more open and honest, with people sharing their experiences and breaking down the stigma surrounding mental illness. However, there is still work to be done to ensure that everyone has access to the care and support they need.
Mental Health Awareness Month is also a time to advocate for better care and support. This month, we encourage you to take time to prioritize your mental health, whether that means simply taking a break when you need it, practicing self-care, or seeking support from a mental health professional.
To assist in this, below is a selection of books available through the Edison Public Library that will help those struggling with their mental health.
Bear in mind, however, that these books aren’t a replacement for a trained psychological professional. If you feel your mental health issues are too big to be solved with a book, these steps from NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) will walk you through finding the help you need.
