Pride Month begins on June 1st, and it serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for acceptance and equality that the LGBTQ+ community faces. This month-long celebration is not only a commemoration of the battles the LGBTQ+ community have fought for the right to love without discrimination but also a call to action for continued progress.
The Edison Public Library recognizes the importance of amplifying the voices of queer writers who showcase their own lived experiences—not just during Pride Month but all year round. These books not only highlight the authors’ own struggles but also help the younger generation understand that they are not alone. These books can be used to foster dialogue and educate communities to serve the goal of creating a world where everyone can love freely and with dignity.
Please also join us on June 15 for a presentation from Robert Kesten, Executive Director of the Stonewall National Museum Archives & Library, discussing the history of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising and LGTBQ advocacy in general.
