Friday, November 10, is Veterans Day, a time when we honor those who served in our armed forces and protected the freedoms that we enjoy in this country.

For some, life in the military is a life-long obligation, choosing to serve for the long haul before retiring as one would from their corporate career. But for others, the military is a stepping stone to other paths in their lives, such as writing.

Many soldiers-turned-author choose to write about their experiences in the armed forces, describing the battles they’ve been in and the relationships they’ve made. Some veterans use the knowledge that they’ve gleaned from military life to reflect on how they can influence others to self-improvement. The final group of veteran writers fictionalize the combat they’ve experienced and write best-selling thrillers.

Despite the types of books that interest you, we’ve selected a few titles available in our catalog that were written by veterans. We hope you decide to celebrate Veterans Day by checking out one of these books, and if you know any veterans, be sure to thank them for their service.
