Did you know that, in addition to all of the holidays coming up, December is also National Learn A Foreign Language Month?
There are a wealth of benefits to learning a foreign language, such as making it easier to travel to different countries, improving confidence, and even wider job opportunities. But one of the biggest benefits is gaining a deeper understanding of a different culture.
Patrons of the Edison Public Library have a wide range of tools at their disposal to learn a foreign language, but the strongest tool available is Pronunciator.
Pronunciator is a free language-learning application that offers lessons in over 160 languages—including American Sign Language—so you can increase your fluency in almost any dialect. The program will walk you step by step through lessons on common vocabulary words and proper verb conjugation using a combination of visual aids and repetition.
Pronunciator also teaches different variations of English. All you have to do is select your native tongue, tell Pronunciator you want to learn American English, British English, or Australian English, and the program will guide you through the daily lessons.
If you’ve ever wanted to learn a foreign language, December is the time to do it, and there’s no easier way to get started than with Pronunciator and your Edison Public Library card.
You can access Pronunciator from the Databases area of our website or by using the button below. Simply create your account, select the language you want to learn, and start learning a new language!
