China and Chinese culture has given us a wide array of fascinating art styles through the centuries including paper-cutting.
Paper-cutting, as it sounds, is the process of cutting paper into recognizable shapes, like animals or famous landmarks. It is an ancient artform that takes years to master, and one such master—Hou-Tien Cheng—will be demonstrating his technique at the North Edison Branch.
Mr. Cheng learned the craft of paper-cutting from his grandmother and spent decades honing his skill to become known as the Master of Paper-cutting. He cuts in free-form style without sketching or any marking of the paper in advance.
