Making a living as an artist can be a daunting endeavor. Not only are you the sole source of creativity, you also need to market yourself to drive new clients and customers and track your income so the IRS doesn’t come calling. Unless you have an agent, an accountant, and an entrepreneurial mentor, those are all hats that you have to wear yourself.
But fret not. The New Jersey State Council on the Arts is pleased to offer The Business of Being an Artist workshop series at the Edison Public Library.
These three programs will give every artist a leg up when it comes to turning their passion into a livable career, from finding the right insurance for yourself, creating a business plan and operating as a business, to tracking your finances and expenses.
This free professional development series is open to any artist, teaching artist, or folk artist who lives and/or works in the state of New Jersey. Participants can attend all or any of the workshops they feel will most benefit them.
