The Edison Public Library is turning 95 this year, and we have a full lineup of activities planned to celebrate the milestone!
Residents are invited to join us at each of the Anniversary Celebrations for light refreshments and a musical performance. These celebrations will be hosted at each of our branches—at the Main Library on April 9 at 5:30pm, at the Clara Barton Branch on April 10 at 6:00pm, and at the North Edison Branch on April 11 at 12:00pm.
New York Times bestselling author Sayantani DasGupta will be appearing at the North Edison Branch to discuss her journey from becoming a doctor to an author and her desire to see herself in books. She will be leading two sessions of discussions, one for ages 12-18 and the second for ages 8-11.
We will also be hosting a special program highlighting the history of our fair township. Edison Township & the Edison Library 1929-Now, presented by Walter R. Stochel Jr. of the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society, will showcase how the rural community of Raritan Township blossomed into a community of over 100,000 residents.
Beautiful Edison will also be hosting a program to teach residents about our town’s newest Community Gardens. Located at Swales and Dwyer Parks, these community gardens contain a total of 89 garden beds that are available for residents to rent to grow their own food, vegetables, or flowers.
We’re closing out the week of celebrations with a Book & Bake Sale sponsored by the Friends of the Edison Public Library. The sale will be held in the Clara Barton Branch on Friday, April 12, and Saturday, April 13. Come down to support your local Friends group and the Edison Public Library by purchasing a few gently used books and some sweet treats.
The Library Anniversary Celebrations are open to all and require no registration. Our other programs may require registration, and you can reserve your place at the links below.
