Since 1999, May has been designated as Military Appreciation Month and serves as a time to honor and recognize United States military members, past and present, and foster awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by the military community.
Held in May to coincide with the many other events celebrating U.S. military members and their achievements - including Armed Forces Day, Loyalty Day, Memorial Day, and Victory in Europe (VE) Day along with Silver Star Service Banner Day, Military Spouse Appreciation Day, and Children of Fallen Patriots Day - the month-long celebration pays tribute to the contributions, sacrifices, and service Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, Space Force, and National Guard members, their spouses, and families.
In observance of Military Appreciation Month and to raise awareness and encourage appreciation of those who serve — or have served — in all branches of the United States armed forces, check out some of these non-fiction books available in our collection.
