As a part of the Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium, the Edison Public Library’s integrated library system is being switched over to a new system to allow us to better serve our patrons.
This new system will go live on June 13, but between June 3 and June 12, the Edison Public Library will need to run a temporary offline system that comes with limitations. Patrons will be able to check out books, however, they must have their Library card to do so. We will be unable to search for a patron’s information, so we cannot check out books without a Library card.
During this time, items cannot be checked in and removed from accounts. As a result, due dates for any materials scheduled to be returned during the offline period will automatically be extended. No items will need to be returned between June 1 and June 20 and we ask that you hold on to materials.
Placing holds will also be suspended between June 3 and 12. Any holds placed prior to June 3 will transfer over to the new system, so don’t worry about losing your place in line!
We also cannot issue new library cards during this period.
Though our physical services will be hindered, our digital services and databases will remain unaffected. Patrons can continue to check out eBooks and audiobooks on eLibraryNJ and stream movies on Hoopla and Kanopy as before, as well as access the other online databases offered through the Edison Public Library.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we look forward to smoothing out these bumps in the road and providing the best experience possible for our patrons.
