The summer is here, so keep cool with a fresh new book from the Edison Public Library. Not sure what to read? Check out some of these books from authors who were born in the scorching month of July!
So many great authors celebrate their birthday in July, from classic novelists like Hermann Hesse (July 2) and Cormac McCarthy (July 20) to writers of great thrillers like Dean Koontz (July 9) and Jeff Lindsay (July 14).
July-born authors include more than just prose writers. Poet Pablo Neruda, who was also a Chilean politician and Nobel Prize winner, was born on July 12. Ilyasah Shabazz, the daughter of social activist Malcolm X, was born on July 21, and reclusive cartoonist and legendary creator of Calvin and Hobbes, Bill Watterson, was born on July 5.
If none of those suit your fancy, we have books from authors like Robyn Carr (July 25), writer of the Virgin River series; Eat, Pray, Love writer Elizabeth Gilbert (July 18), the works of acclaimed Indian American-Canadian writer Bharati Mukherjee (July 27); Shirley Jackson Award-winner and writer of the Southern Reach Trilogy Jeff VanderMeer (July 7); and the woman who created a phenomenon when she introduced the world to a boy wizard named Harry Potter, J. K. Rowling (July 31).
The Library is full of many incredible and wonderful stories, so be sure to drop in soon to find a whole new world in which to lose yourself.
