Join Dr. Diane Cypkin, a native Yiddish speaker and performer, at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 18 at the Main Library for a program highlighting Molly Picon (1898-1992), the First Lady of the Yiddish Stage during the 1920s and 1930s.
During the hour-long Salute to Molly Picon program, Cypkin will combine her performance and professional skills to tell Picon’s story in a way that is both entertaining and educational.
Cypkin will sing some of the tangos, waltzes, and fox trots popularized and often co-written by Picon and weave in highlights of Picon’s personal and professional life. Cypkin will also track Picon’s English language successes, from her breakthrough in 1961’s Milk and Honey to her role as Yente the Matchmaker in the 1971 film version of Fiddler on the Roof.
Open to adults. Registration is suggested.
