It’s almost September, and that means it’s also … Library Card Sign-Up Month!
A nationwide campaign from the American Library Association (ALA), Library Card Sign-Up Month is designed to remind the community that signing up for a library card is the first step to lifelong learning and academic achievement. This annual initiative, tied into the start of the new school year, underscores the importance of libraries as essential community hubs that provide access to resources, information, and experiences that enrich lives.
“A library card provides residents with access to thousands of different resources," said Edison Public Library Director Allan Kleiman. “While many people associate libraries with just books, movies, and music, today, we are so much more. If you haven’t stopped by lately, please do! Come see all we have to offer.”
Each month, the Edison Public Library hosts free programs aimed at enriching the lives of patrons of all ages, including but not limited to, S.T.E.A.M. workshops, bilingual storytimes, live music, art receptions, and community outreach. The library also offers access to digital products and services such as eBooks, Audiobooks, movie and music streaming, online courses, education workshops, and research databases and, all three locations provide office support, such as copiers, faxes, scanning, and software, as well as career assistance, and homework help.
And the best part is library membership is free with proof of residency!
To sign up for a library card or to learn more about the library’s resources and programs, visit
www.edisonpubliclibrary.org or stop in at any of our three branches and speak with any of our friendly librarians. If you already have one, encourage your friends and family to get one too so they, too, may access all the services available free of charge with a library card.
