The Edison Public Library will launch a series of Literacy and Digital Resource Classes geared toward helping patrons learn basic English as well as basic computer skills.
Free Beginner English Classes will take place over the course of 9 weeks and are open to beginner to intermediate learners. Students will work with our English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher to learn English vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation useful for day-to-day interactions.
Beginner English Classes will take place at the Main Library from 6:30 to 8:00 pm every Monday from October 14 through December 16 and at the Clara Barton Branch every Wednesday from October 16 through December 18.
The Library will also be offering a new Digital Literacy course for those seeking to gain basic computer skills. The eight-week course is designed to teach the basics of computer use and will use the Northstar Digital Literacy Assessment program to gain certificates in essential skills and software, including Windows 11, Microsoft, Google, Mac, social media, and other technologies used in everyday life.
Digital Literacy courses will take place at the Main Library on Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 pm from October 24 through December 19 and at the Clara Barton Branch on Fridays from 1:00 to 3:00 pm from October 18 through December 20.
Can’t make these class times? Drop by the Main Library on Wednesdays between 4:30PM and 8:30 pm for Computer Lab hours to get support in earning Northstar certificates as well as receive assistance from our digital literacy education.
Patrons interested in the aforementioned classes should fill out an
interest form available online. For those who are not tech-savvy, physical forms are available at the front desk of each Edison Library branch. For more information, contact
