Not long ago, on Giving Tuesday, we sent an email from the Library Director Allan M. Kleiman seeking support for the Edison Public Library. Many of our residents came forward and pledged their assistance for our vision and goals within the community; for that, we are sincerely grateful.
Our library continues to be a gathering place for thousands of residents, offering free access to books, educational programs, and digital resources and serving as a safe space for learning and connection. We’ve hosted programs to engage young readers, support local students, and foster lifelong learning. We’ve expanded our reach and built a stronger, more connected community through our Bookmobile Services across Edison.
The Edison Public Library Foundation has worked hard to ensure the Library receives the additional funding it requires and, through their efforts, we have been able to supplement our Teen Advisory Board activities and Summer Reading challenges.
Our newly reestablished Friends of the Edison Public Library also fundraised for programs we otherwise would not be able to support, and through their help, we are launching the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten reading program in early 2025 in an effort to stimulate children’s interests in reading and literacy.
But the Edison Public Library still needs help.
With all of the changes happening—from the current renovations to the Main Library on Plainfield Avenue to the upcoming remodel and expansion of the North Edison Branch on Grove Avenue—we are continually striving to ensure our buildings provide a space for residents to work, learn, and grow.
While Library Capital Funding has provided the basics for these projects, there is more that needs to be done to purchase new books, technology, and furniture, as well as equipment for our new Innovation Lab. To continue offering high-quality programs and services, we need your support now more than ever.
We are excited to announce that we have set ambitious goals for this year’s fundraising campaign. Our goals are as follows:
- Capital Campaign (Library Renovation): $1 million
- Buy-a-Book Campaign: $100,000
- Technology/Innovation: $200,000
- Enhance and Expand Quality Programming: $200,000
Every donation, no matter the size, directly impacts the services we can offer, ensuring that the Library remains a cornerstone of our community.
Here's how you can help:
- Donate: A gift of any amount will make a significant difference
- Become a Monthly Supporter: A recurring donation provides sustainable funding for long-term projects
- Corporate Matching Gifts: Many employers match charitable contributions. Ask your employer how you can double your impact
We invite you to donate to any of the campaigns by visiting our
secure online donation page, or by sending a check to

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our programs, don’t hesitate to contact the Library.
On behalf of our entire team, we thank you for your unwavering support and belief in the power of libraries. Together, we are helping to build a brighter future for everyone in Edison Township.
