The Edison Public Library is celebrating Black History Month with a historical portrayal of Mary Bowser. Also known as Mary Richards and Mary Jane Richards Garvin, Bowser was a spy who used her photographic memory to relay Jefferson Davis’s plans to the Union army.
Lorraine Stone, a performance artist who expresses the lives of historic African American women through presentations of some of their life experiences and the times they lived in, will present a biographical portrayal of Bowser at the Main Library on Wednesday, February 19 at 7:00pm.
Children, teens, and adults are welcome.
