Ramadan, the Arabic name for the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, is considered one of the holiest Islamic months as well as one of the Five Pillars of Islam through which Muslims believe are compulsory acts ordered by God.
The Islamic month of fasting, prayer, and gratitude, Ramadan is held annually based on the lunar calendar and phases of the moon, lasting between 29 and 30 days and taking place at a different time each year.
This year, Ramadan will run from Friday, February 28 through Saturday, March 29, and, in honor of the month-long spiritual event, the Edison Public Library is hosting a special program for children ages 2 to 9.
Join us at the Main Library on Friday, February 21 at 11:00am for a storytime and craft focused on charity and generosity. Registration is not required, but space is limited with the program open on a first-come, first-served basis.
