The Edison Public Library provides free resources and classes for patrons to expand their literacy skills in many areas, including speaking, reading, and writing as well as across digital platforms.
On Wednesday, February 26, an
ESL Interest Workshop open to all levels of English language learners will be held at the
Main Library from 6:00 to 8:00pm and, on Thursday, February 27, the drop-in
Language Learning Lab will run from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the North Edison Branch.
For those seeking computer support, drop-in help is available through the Edison Public Library’s
Digital Skills Learning Lab. Taking place from 11:00am to 2:30pm on Friday, February 28 at the North Edison Branch and on Friday, March 7 at the Main Library, the Digital Skills Learning Lab offers support in using digital services, earning computer skills certification, navigating computer programs, and online job search assistance.
The Literacy Department is also hosting a
12-week Essential Computer Skills Course for teens and adults at the Main Library. Beginning
Tuesday, March 4, the course will run twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) from 6:00 to 8:00pm and is geared toward people seeking to gain basic computer skills and learn internet basics while also providing an intro to
Microsoft Office. Participants will use the
Northstar program to gain digital certificates for personal, academic, and/or professional purposes. Registration is required and all resources will be provided.
Additionally, a workshop designed to provide teens and adults with the basics of using Microsoft’s free, online-only versions of Excel and Word will be held on Wednesday, March 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Main Library. During the
Word & Excel Workshop, topics of discussion will include how to create an account, the essentials of how to get started, and the basics of navigating the Excel and Word websites. Registration is required.
