The life of entrepreneur, philanthropist, and activist Madam C.J. Walker will be presented by historical interpreter, actress, educator and writer Dr. Daisy Century at the Edison Public Library on Wednesday, March 19.
In her programs, Century defines her role as a historical interpreter by becoming the character; she wears clothing from the specific time period and weaves their story, taking her audience on an engaging journey through every phase of the person’s life.
During the 1:00 pm Madam C.J. Walker program, which will take place at the Main Library, Century will share details of Walker’s life, including how she rose from poverty in the South to become one of the wealthiest African American women of her time and used her position to advocate for the advancement of Black Americans and an end to lynching.
