New Jersey Makers Day is an annual event designed to inspire and activate libraries to showcase and highlight
STEM and maker culture, enhancing life-long learning. This year, Makers Day will run from March 21 through March 23 and the
Edison Public Library is joining in the fun with events at the
Main Library as well as the
Clara Barton and
North Edison Branches.
On Friday, March 21, stop by the Clara Barton Branch throughout the day and pick up a Makers Day Take Home Craft for ages five and older. Patrons ages 3 to 6 years old can dress for a mess and take part in the Watercolor Magic Program being held at noon at the Main Library. Finally, families can stop by the North Edison Branch, currently operating out of 1907 Oak Tree Road, at 3:30pm for a Makers Day Storytime and LEGO® Building program for all ages.
Makers Day 2025 programs will continue on Saturday, March 22. A Junk Journaling program will take place at the Main Library at 11:30am and students in fourth through 12th grade can join WeMake 4-H at 2:00pm to learn about cells and forensics in an engaging Makers Day Bio Lab. Additionally, patrons of all ages can learn how to turn an old record into a working clock at 1:00pm at the North Edison Branch or head over to the Clara Barton Branch at 2:30pm for a Makers Day Yarn and Art Craft program.
The idea behind New Jersey Makers Day began in 2014 with an initial grant from LibraryLinkNJ. The goal was to enhance community engagement and develop connections among New Jersey residents by collaborating with multi-type libraries, museums, small businesses, and others to promote and explore new opportunities for entrepreneurship, innovation, and hands-on learning experiences.
The first New Jersey Makers Day annual event, organized by a group of public librarians, was held in 2015 and, the following September, New Jersey Makers Day was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. To learn more, visit the
