Dear Library Supporters,

Tuesday, April 1, is Library Giving Day, and the Edison Public Library will join with other libraries across the country to participate in the online fundraising event.

Library Giving Day helps support the power of libraries and serves as a great opportunity for patrons to show their appreciation for everything the Edison Public Library has to offer.

This past year, the Library has embarked on an aggressive plan to transform our 60-plus year-old buildings into community cornerstones that reflect the needs of each of Edison’s neighborhoods. The Main Library’s renovation is expected to be completed over the summer and, at the North Edison Branch, we held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of its expansion. We have also begun a series of Community Conversations focusing on the Clara Barton Branch to discover ways in which we can enhance Library services and redesign the building to better meet the community’s needs. Additionally, we have started the process to update our 2008 Bookmobile, which reaches throughout Edison to bring the Library directly to you.

Funding for the aforementioned projects comes from the Library’s Operating and Capital Budgets, but additional financial support is needed to:

Purchase new books and replace classics for children, young
adults and adults
Enhance our digital collections, providing more online material for
you to borrow
Keep the library an accessible and welcoming space for all by
creating an Accessibility Center to serve those with a variety

of special needs
Purchase new technology such as scanners, computers, laptops, etc.
Update furnishings throughout the three Library locations
Contribute to a “start-up” fund to replace our 2008 Bookmobile
