Language Lounges, the Edison Public Library’s ESL Conversation Groups, will meet in April at the Main Library on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00am to noon.
During each session, participants will have the opportunity to practice speaking and understanding English. Discuss topics and learn new words and phrases with a certified ESL teacher and other English learners, all in a laid-back environment.
No materials or pre-registration are required, and all skill levels are welcome. Interested patrons are encouraged to attend as many sessions as they would like. Light refreshments will be provided.
In addition to the Language Lounges, the Edison Public Library will also begin offering two different 12-week English as a Second Language classes in May.
The English Level 1 class focuses on vocabulary, grammar, writing, and pronunciation, will run two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 3:00pm and is geared toward those looking to learn English skills through listening, speaking, reading, and writing practice. The English Level 2 class will also be held two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am to 12:00pm and is open to adults who are beginner English learners with a focus on vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation that is useful for day-to-day interactions.
Registration for the English as a Second Language classes is required. Students of these courses are welcome to join us at the Language Lounges for additional learning and to practice their conversational English.
