Dear North Edison Residents,
We wanted to take a moment to share an exciting update on the renovation and expansion of the North Edison Branch Library.
As you may know, we began this much-anticipated project in March by relocating the branch to temporary quarters at 1907 Oak Tree Road, Suite 102. Since then, contractors have been hard at work clearing out the old building, stripping it down to its shell, and beginning roof work. While the progress may not be visible from the outside just yet, we want to assure you that things are moving steadily behind the scenes.
When the renovation is complete—in approximately 15 months—you’ll experience a whole new library! We’re expanding the children’s area as well as adding a dedicated adult reading room, a magazine & periodical room, a new meeting room/auditorium, and even an exhibit space for community events. Another new feature will be our automated materials handling system, which will allow you to return items 24/7 and have them automatically checked in—no waiting.
In the meantime, we’ve brought a little bit of everything to our temporary location: books for all ages, computers, scanners, copiers, and even your favorite programs. The temporary location is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM, and Friday and Saturday from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Although the North Edison Branch is currently closed on Sundays, you can always visit the Main Library, located at 340 Plainfield Avenue, which is open from 12:00 to 5:00 PM.
We’re also continuing to roll out fun and educational programs, such as our new Seed Library, Summer Reading Program for all ages, Museum Passes, storytimes, craft events, films, and much more!
Remember, always carry your Edison Public Library Card with you. It’s the most important card in your wallet
So please, come by and check out the temporary location. We'd love to see you!
Warm regards,
Allan M. Kleiman, MLS
