In Haiti, women known as Madan Sara work tirelessly to buy, distribute, and sell food and other essentials in markets throughout the country. Despite the obstacles of working in a sector that lacks investment, infrastructure, and state assistance, the Madan Sara play a crucial role in the Haitian economy.
In the documentary Madan Sara, Haitian filmmaker Etant Dupain tells the story of these indefatigable women, and Edison Public Library patrons are invited to a screening taking place on Monday, September 8, at 6:00pm.
The 50-minute, unrated film is presented by Street Team Productions and will be shown at the Main Library. A question & answer session will follow.
