On Tuesday, October 7, would-be horror and thriller authors can come to the Main Library for our Deadly Drafts program. This two-part workshop, beginning at 6:30pm, is a slasher-inspired fiction writing series where attendees will use spine-tingling prompts and slasher story excerpts to spark creativity and use them as launchpads for our own terrifying tales.
In part 2 of Deadly Drafts, occurring on Tuesday, October 28, at 6:30pm, we will fine-tune our writing from the previous session or receive feedback on any writing pieces you've previously created.
Then on Wednesday, October 8, older adults interested in exploring the world of memoir writing are invited to join Denise Lima-Laskiewicz as she brings her Life of Little Stories program to the Clara Barton Branch. Attendees of the 1:00pm workshop will be provided with writing prompts to get started, and there will be a discussion on publishing options and the personal benefits of penning a memoir.
Lima-Laskiewicz is an activity director certified through NCCAP whose therapeutic writing program, Heal Through Words, has been presented in assisted living and long-term care facilities throughout New Jersey for 18 years, with her Life of Little Stories memoir program taking place in senior centers, libraries, and adult communities in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for the past three years. She has worked in the field of recreation since 1987 and as a freelance writer since 1988, with her articles appearing in online publications, magazines, and newsletters.
