The Edison Public Library is celebrating Banned Books Week (October 5-11, 2025) with two age-specific author events featuring Jan Zauzmer taking place on Thursday, October 9, at the Clara Barton Branch.
Through the whimsical story of Paige, a peppy kid protagonist who rallies her community to stand up against the ban on lime-colored books, Zauzmer’s newest work, Down With Lime Books!, introduces children to the importance of the freedom to read and the power of young voices in the face of censorship.
Families can join Zauzmer at 5:00pm for a special Down with Lime Books! storytime followed by a fun craft and, at 6:00pm, Zauzmer will welcome parents and concerned adults to a program through which she will use Down with Lime Books! to illustrate the parallels between fiction and real book banning efforts.
Zauzmer is also the author of If You Go with Your Goat to Vote, Maxine’s Critters Get the Vaccine Jitters, and, most recently, Down with Lime Books!, which she hopes will shine the limelight on the freedom to read.
