The Edison Public Library will present the award-winning solo-made documentary Bar None: Cannabis Redemption on Monday, December 8. The 60-minute documentary, designed to spark a powerful conversation on criminal justice reform, equity and the cannabis industry, will be shown at the Main Library at 6:00pm.
Despite legalization or semi-legalization in 38 states, about 40,000 people remain imprisoned, with others facing challenges due to criminal records, for marijuana-related offenses that would not be considered crimes today.
Bar None: Cannabis Redemption, which was released earlier this year, explores the impact of outdated marijuana laws, highlights formerly incarcerated people achieving redemption in the legal cannabis industry, and advocates for reform while exposing the stark contradictions in state and federal policies.
