Happy New Year, Edison! We began 2026 with a momentous milestone: the Grand Re-opening of our Main Library.
After almost two years of extensive renovations, we are thrilled to welcome the community back into a transformed space. Our staff worked tirelessly to prepare for the day, and while there is still more to come over the next few months, the updated facility is ready to serve you.
On the lower level, you will find a brand-new teen space, a cozy café, an expanded children’s programming room, a dedicated local history room, and three new restrooms. The upper level now features a conference room, four new study rooms, a family bathroom, and a significantly expanded makerspace.
We are also in the process of upgrading the technology in our upstairs meeting room to facilitate "hybrid" programs and broadcasts, ensuring our services are accessible both in-person and online. Throughout both levels, you will begin to notice new, comfortable seating designed to make the Library an inviting place to gather, study, and relax. Additionally, the collection will be easier to navigate with better merchandising and special sections for "in-demand" materials. All of this is for the purpose of making the Library a place for you to browse, explore, and learn.
I encourage you to come in and see these changes for yourself. The Main Library is open seven days a week:
- Monday - Thursday: 9:30 AM – 9:00 PM
- Friday - Saturday: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- Sunday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
As part of our ongoing commitment to meet the community’s needs, the Library has partnered with Parker Health Group to present a Memory Café at the Main Library. The Café program, which will be held monthly, is designed to bring together those with memory loss and their caregivers to share activities and experiences that promote community and overall well-being such as meditation, arts and crafts, movement and more! The first Café will be this Wednesday, January 14, at 11:00am. Register online by visiting our website or call any of the Library Branches.
Finally, our first Library Board Meeting of the year will take place this Tuesday, January 13, at 7:00pm at the Clara Barton Branch, 141 Hoover Avenue. This is our reorganization meeting where the current year’s officers will be elected. The public is always encouraged to attend, and no registration is required.
I look forward to seeing you in our new stacks!
