Join us for an interactive Black History Month presentation that combines live music, storytelling, and historical context.
On Saturday, February 21 at 2:00pm, the North Edison Temporary Branch will host Jazz Legends A to Z featuring Kahlil Kwame Bell, a Grammy-affiliated percussionist, composer, author, and former music educator. During this program, short live musical demonstrations using rhythm, percussion, and recorded musical excerpts will be used to introduce and illustrate the contributions of key jazz legends with each segment connecting an artist’s story to the sound, making the history both engaging and accessible.
Kahlil Kwame Bell is widely recognized for mastering the slapaphone and introducing it to jazz, fusing traditional percussion with innovation to expand the genre’s sonic range. His artistry spans jazz, rock, hip hop, European classical music, world music, spirituals, and spoken word with his compositions and collaborations heard daily on jazz and world music radio programs around the globe.
This event is open to all ages and registration is not required, however, space is limited with seating on a first-come, first-served basis.
