Join Heather Dalal, MLIS, MEd, as she delves into the Hidden Costs of AI at an in-person program scheduled for 11:00am on Saturday, May 2 at the Main Library.
Dalal is a librarian and educator who, over the past 25 years, has worked in academic libraries breaking down emerging technologies into clear practical steps that anyone can follow. Her workshops focus on how AI can be used to support learning, work, and creativity while keeping humanity at the center.
During the 90-minute workshop, Dalal will examine what powers AI system—including energy use, water consumption, human labor, and embedded biases; explore the misformation surrounding AI and how the growing volume of AI-generated content can affect the reliability of information; and provide tips to enable one to learn to think critically about these tools, evaluate AI-generated information, and use AI responsibly.
Open to adult patrons and registration is suggested but not required.
