In 1924, the Metropolitan Museum of Art officially opened its American Wing, providing a special focus and celebration of American works. Today, the American Wing houses some of the museum’s most beloved pieces, such as Leutze’s Washington Crossing the Delaware, Gilbert Stuart’s iconic portrait of George Washington, and Louis Comfort Tiffany’s dramatic three-part window, Garden Landscape.
On Monday, July 13, Edison Public Library cardholders are invited on a virtual tour through the collection of America’s premier museum. Led by Mallory Motillaro, an art historian and educator, the program will focus on the three aforementioned pieces and other important works.
This virtual presentation, which is open to adults and families, can be viewed online at home or at the Main Library, beginning at 7:00pm. Registration to join from home is required. |
