Join the Edison Public Library and the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society as we celebrate America 250 and head out on a fascinating journey into our community’s Revolutionary War past.
The Revolution in Edison program, taking place at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25 at the North Edison Branch, will feature a presentation by Walter R. Stochel Jr., a board member with the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society and co-chair of the America 250–Edison Celebration Committee. Attendees will learn about the historic sites in Edison that played a role during the American Revolution and hear some of the remarkable stories behind them.
Highlighted locations will include the Battle of the Short Hills, St. James Church, Old Post Road, and the British camps at Piscatawaytown and Bonhamtown. Guests will also have the opportunity to view displays of Revolutionary War artifacts discovered in Edison and Metuchen.
Whether you are a history enthusiast, lifelong resident, or simply curious about the rich heritage of our area, this program offers a unique opportunity to connect with local history and celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.
