Interested in learning more about colonial life? The Edison Public Library has three different events scheduled for Monday, July 27 geared at providing an insight into revolutionary times.

Pastimes & Play, presented by costumed interpreter NJ History Alive, will take place at the North Edison Branch. During the 2 p.m. program, attendees will have the opportunity to explore and learn more about the games, entertainment, and social traditions enjoyed by early American colonists. Registration is suggested but not required.

Then, at 7 p.m., Rick Feingold will join us at the Main Library for The Schuyler Sisters & the Hamilton Music. We will read the love letters Alexander Hamilton sent to Eliza Schuyler during their courtship then meet the two other women—Angelica Schuyler Church and Maria Reynolds—who were after Alexander in this program featuring music from the popular Broadway musical. No registration is necessary.

If food—rather than music—is your thing, the Food and Feasts: Colonial Food Preparation program, taking place at the North Edison Branch at 7 p.m., may pique your interests and your appetite. Patrons of all ages are invited to step back in time with NJ History Alive and discover how colonial foodways differed from those of today; learn about colonial food processing, preparation, cooking, and consumption; and explore the  daily life of early Americans through this engaging presentation led by a costumed historical interpreter. Registration is suggested but not required.
