Veterans Day is right around the corner – the time of year when we give thanks to the men and women who served in our armed forces to protect this nation and its freedoms. Serving in the military, however, can take a toll on a person, and they can find that they don’t have the help and support they need to transition into life as a civilian.

That’s why the Edison Public Library is proud to partner with Brainfuse, so that our veterans and their families can get exactly that sort of help.

What is Brainfuse?

Brainfuse is an online suite of academic services that targets different courses of study and learning styles. Brainfuse users can get online tutoring for a variety of subjects including math, reading, and geography. There’s also Live Writing Assistance, which connects users to an expert tutor who can, in real-time, walk them through the writing process.

One of Brainfuse’s services is VetNow, which provides tools for veterans to navigate the VA system. Veterans can get live assistance from VetNow’s experts, who are all veterans themselves and have experience working with the VA, which as many veterans know is often difficult to manage.

VetNow users also have access to:
  • SkillSurfer
    • A collection of practice tests to test your knowledge in a neutral environment
  • Language Lab
    • Connects the user with an expert for help on learning a second language
  • FlashBulb™
    • Flashcards for different subjects to help you study quickly
VetNow also has job placement tools to help veterans write resumes and cover letters, as well as figure out the best career paths for them to take. There’s even interview tips and live interview coaching, both of which can guide veterans through the anxiety of sitting down with an interviewer and discussing their work history.

Brainfuse: VetNow is free for any veteran with an active library card. If these services sound like something you can use, visit any of our three branches—the Main Library, North Edison, or Clara Barton—and sign up for a library card.
